Carlson Rezidor boosts presence in China with new Radisson Blu Resort in Chongqing

Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group and CUTC Chongqing Easpring Hot Spring Development Co. Ltd. have announced the signing of Radisson Blu Resort Chongqing BeiBei in Chongqing, China. This is Carlson Rezidor’s fourth hotel in the Southwestern metropolis of Chongqing, a major manufacturing and pharmaceutical hub. Chongqing is also known for its hot springs and natural beauty, and the Chongqing government is revamping the tourist infrastructure and major attractions to boost tourist arrivals, which topped 288 million in 2012.

"Chongqing has emerged as one of China’s leading megacities and we are proud to be a part of its development as a tourism destination in southwest China,” said Thorsten Kirschke, president, Asia Pacific, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “We believe that Radisson Blu Resort Chongqing BeiBei will positively contribute to the area’s tourism growth, and we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with CUTC Chongqing Easpring Hot Spring Development to make this resort a success. This new deal underlies our strong commitment to China and strategic penetration of anchor markets in Asia Pacific.”

Radisson Blu Resort Chongqing BeiBei is a 280-room, new build hotel that will be located close to the Cai Industrial Zone, for high-tech industries; Shuitu High Tech Zone, for pharmaceutical firms; Yuelai International Convention Center; and the Liangjiang New District. The hotel is accessible via several major highways and is also within easy reach of the city center, the train station, and Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, one of the largest airports in Southeast China.

The hotel will be part of a mixed development called Yishang Mountain Hot Spring Town, which includes a hot spring and spa, high-end residences, commercial space, and leisure facilities. Radisson Blu Resort Chongqing BeiBei will have three restaurants, a lobby lounge and bar, a fitness center, a spa, an indoor swimming pool and a variety of meeting spaces.

"We are pleased to be working with Carlson Rezidor, which has such a global presence and a strong reputation in the industry,” said Xu Zhiqiang, chairman, CUTC Chongqing Easpring Hot Spring Development Co. Ltd. “The well-respected Radisson Blu brand enjoys an excellent track record in Chongqing and we are confident that the brand will add value to our development.”
