With snow and ice covering the roads and snow still coming down, General Manager Michael Garner of our Country Inn & Suites, Burlington, in North Carolina, created a culinary bright spot by surprising snowbound guests with a lunch spread that inspired a wonderful guest review on TripAdvisor.
The hotel served a full, complimentary lunch to 50 guests with sandwiches, chips, cookies and beverages from the local Panera Bread shop. Guests were invited to the impromptu luncheon by staff who went door-to-door taking orders and tallying a headcount.
“As the only person with a four-wheel drive vehicle, and the roads under 10-inches of snow and ice, I made the decision that not only did the staff need lunch, but so did the guests,” said Michael. “It was gratifying to see guests expressing such an overwhelming sense of relief as they realized they would not have to brave the elements to find a meal.”
We aren’t sure if there were more bright spots experienced than snowflakes flying in Burlington yesterday, but that’s “Be Our Guest” service at its finest.
