Tony Pellegrin named to head Corporate Development for Carlson

Tony Pellegrin has been appointed as senior vice president, Corporate Development, Carlson. The announcement was made today by Trudy Rautio, president and chief executive officer, Carlson.

“This is a pivotal role in the company as we continue to explore opportunities for strategic options to drive growth,” said Trudy. “Tony will spearhead our corporate development efforts, as well as lead our strategic planning process. He will report directly to me and serve on my executive leadership team.”

Tony joins Carlson from Supervalu Inc., a $36-billion, multi-channel retail grocery, supply chain services and third-party logistics enterprise, where he served as vice president of Corporate Development.

At Carlson, he will source and analyze potential acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures that align with Carlson’s strategies, and seek investment opportunities that support shareholder objectives. He will also be instrumental in formulating long-range strategic plans for the company.  In this capacity, he will work closely with Brad Hall, chief financial officer, and provide environmental scans and analysis of organizational positioning, provide competitor intelligence, and work with our business leaders and senior management on specific requests for analysis of services and competition. Tony will identify opportunities to drive growth as he works closely with the presidents of Carlson’s business units. Shannon Landblom, manager, Business Development, Carlson, will report directly to Tony.

Tony brings Carlson broad experience in strategic, financial, operational and legal matters, and comprehensive experience driving a broad range of strategic transactions and other high-impact initiatives. Prior to his role at Supervalu, Tony served as general counsel of a global business unit of Honeywell International, Inc. He was director of Corporate Development at Federated Direct/Fingerhut Companies, Inc., and a corporate/transaction attorney at Chicago’s Rosenberg & Liebentritt, PC/Equity Group Investments, where he represented a private equity group and a range of portfolio companies.

He holds a law degree from the University of Chicago Law School and a bachelor of arts in political science, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota.

Please join in welcoming Tony to Carlson.
