Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the Radisson Blu Sheremetyevo Airport Hotel, Moscow. The property will feature 379 rooms and is scheduled to open during second quarter of 2014. It is the group's second hotel at Sheremetyevo.
The new hotel is owned by the Norwegian company Wenaasgruppen, one of The Rezidor Hotel Group's most important multi-unit owners. In Russia alone, Wenaasgruppen owns nine hotels, with a total of 4,000 rooms operated by Rezidor.
“This agreement further strengthens our position as one of the leading airport hotel operators in Europe. It also confirms our commitment to the Russian market where we are the leading international hotel operator,” said Wolfgang M. Neumann, president and chief executive officer of Rezidor. The group currently has 45 hotels with 11,600 rooms in operation in Russia, CIS and Baltics, and 29 hotels with 6,700 rooms under development. In and around Russia’s capital city of Moscow Rezidor’s portfolio comprises six properties with more than 1,700 rooms.
The Radisson Blu Sheremetyevo Airport Hotel will be the only hotel featuring a direct walkway link to the international terminals. In addition to 379 rooms with Radisson Blu signature services, the property will offer two restaurants and two bars and more than 43 meeting rooms including a multifunctional hall, a crew lounge, a gym and sauna areas.
The recently renovated Sheremetyevo Airport is the hub of Russia’s national carrier Aeroflot, providing the ideal transit point for international, regional and domestic travelers. The new AeroExpress train connects the terminals and downtown Moscow in just 35 minutes. Sheremetyevo serves more than 22 million passengers annually, and is set to grow further as it now has the largest capacity of any airport in Moscow or Russia.
