The Radisson Martinique on Broadway hosted more than 200 parents and children from seven New York City homeless shelters for its 2nd annual “Dream, Believe, Achieve” holiday event on Dec.29.
Partnering for a third, consecutive year with the city’s Department of Homeless Services, the Radisson expanded its mission of community service this year, treating guests to an elaborate lunch and family activities including dancing, entertainment, crafts and a visit from Santa Claus. Led by Susan Anselona, general manager of the Radisson Martinique, and Fatena Williams, manager of the Rooms Division, each family also received age- and gender-specific gifts, a surprise that “made the children’s faces light up,” according to Fatena. The Radisson Martinique’s partnership with DHS began in 2010 as part of a holiday toy drive and has grown to the show-stopping holiday event it now orchestrates.
“This is one of our most treasured events,” said Susan. “We filled the entire second floor of the hotel this year, serving 50 more people than last year.”
Located on 32nd Street and Broadway in New York City, the beautifully restored hotel was recently added to the prestigious National Historic Hotel Registry.
