Five Carlson Rezidor hotels were victorious in the prestigious World Travel Awards 2012 held this month in the Algarve, Portugal. The Radisson Royal Hotel, Moscow (pictured on the right) was one of the night’s big winners with three titles: Europe’s Leading Luxury Business Hotel, Russia’s Leading Luxury Hotel and Europe’s Leading Landmark Hotel. The Radisson Royal Hotel, Moscow is one of the legendary “Seven Sisters,” Soviet skyscrapers masterminded by Joseph Stalin.
The Radisson Blu Hotel, Berlin, renowned for its largest-in-the-world cylindrical aquarium was named Germany’s Leading Business Hotel. The award for Norway’s Leading Business Hotel went to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Alesund. The Radisson Blu Astorija Hotel, Vilnius was named Lithuania’s Leading Business Hotel. Rezidor is the leading international hotel operator in the growing market of Russia/Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Baltics and has defined the region as a key development market.
“I’m very pleased that also a hotel in the emerging market of Lithuania was honored with a World Travel Award,” said Kurt Ritter, president and chief executive officer of Rezidor.
The World Travel Award (WTA) Europe ceremony 2012 marks the third leg of WTA's Grand Tour, a global search for the world's leading travel brands, which also includes regional heats in Dubai, Singapore and Turks & Caicos before the grand final competition in New Delhi on December 12.
